Sunday~Time to Worship

It was wonderful to be back in fellowship today studying Nehemiah with our faithful body of believers. Steve wasn't strong enough yet to go and his counts are such that he needs to wait another week or so before he is around a crowd but I was able to go to our Fellowship Bible Church in Kendallville today. Steve and I have been so continually blessed by their faithful prayers and ministry to us. Thank you all at FBC for your loving kindnesses to us, each one of you are so special to us and we miss not being able to be with you regularly.

Steve is gaining strength slowly, hopefully he can get outside tomorrow and bask in the sunshine. We go back to the Fort Wayne oncologist Thursday to check his blood counts and have a talk about his future treatment plan. Until then we press on looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

I was glad when they said unto me, let us go unto the house of the Lord!

Blessings in Christ Jesus,
Dawn

  1. Hi!
I am a friend of Your cousin, Terry Whaley. We worked together at Lace school where I was a health aide. My husband, Al was diagnosed with leukemia on May 25th. Terry forward your blog to us and I am reading all that is going on with Steve and it sounds very much like what is happening with us. As of today Al is waiting for a donor and will be at the University of Chicago too. Also, our church friends are having a fish fry fundraiser for Al on October 9th, same day as your!!! Al has a web site on the Caring Bridge site as it helps to update our family and friends, as you know. I feel like we are so connected in many ways and hope we will get to meet you soon... probably at the hospital. My email address is t.kondraschow@comcast.net and please check out Al's site. It is www.caringbridge.org/visit/alkondraschow Take care, Terri

It would appear we are in a common battle to beat Luekiemia. I understand you are quite a harmonica player, I will try and find a wash board and maybe we can do a concert at the Univeristy of Chicago Medical Center. Terri and I are prayerful for a match for your stem cell transplant. I wish I were well enough, I would have loved to participate in your golf fund raiser.

    Take Care,
    Al & Terri Kondraschow

  3. We are reminded today.....God never takes away anything we need to do HIS will.

And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Phil.4:19

We are praying for you today as every day....as often as the Lord reminds. Today we are praying for direction and peace. There are a lot of decisions to be made. The FAITHFUL ONE will guide your steps.

So wishing we could be at the garage sale benefit on Sat. at the Kendallville Fairgrounds. Whatever God blesses the McCreery's with...we will praise HIM.

    Hugs to both of you!

I know today is the big day. Congrats! I prayerful the transplant goes well ( it is actually kind of anti-climatic as it is just like a blood tranfusion) but never the less is is a crossing over to a recovery. How ironic that we would have shared the same room at the hospital (amazing)I thought I would just give you few tidbits from my experience that might be helpful. Obviously each case is slightly different but you may find some common threads in our expereinces. First, I had no appetite either. However I made an effort to at least attempt to eat three meals a day. Even if I ordered the food and could not eat it I at least made a vague attempt. For breakfast I would order rice krispies and let them get realy soft (to make them easy to swallow)with a banana. For lunch and dinner a scrambled egg was a staple, it tasted okay and was really soft and easy to swallow. I tried other things like noodles and butter, soup and mac and cheese but they did not seem to be quite as appetising. For my mouth sores the nurses offered me a pink mouth wash which seemed to numb my mouth which was good, but it also numbed my taste buds so I could not tast anything, (you may want to ask for it if the mouth sores are an issue) but I think it was better to get food that actually taste it. The nurses also offered be a calorie supplement called Breeze which was a fruit drink I like that more than the Ensure. Don't be dissapointed if you don't see you counts to start going up until sometime after day 10, I waited each day with anticipation to hear my results, it was something to look forward to, and in my case finally my White Blood Cell count broke into the postitive (.2) on day 9 (I think I was very fortunate. If you have any questions and would like to email me you my email a.kondraschow@comcast.net.

God Bless You and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

    Al Kondraschow
