It was late last night when we rolled in home from Chicago so we went straight to bed and got up this morning trying to think of ways to describe yesterdays doctor visit. Hmmm....scratch head....hmmm. We thought the transplant was going to be all scheduled, Dawn went in with her calender and pen handy to get the dates on the planner but that really wasn't the case. They tested Steve's blood to check his counts, which were very good, and to get an idea of how his condition is prior to transplant. He is doing very well, his weight is up another 10lbs and they can't feel his spleen at all anymore, which is a good sign. However, it has been two months now since his last chemo and they are thinking he may need more chemo to suppress the scaring in the bone marrow. So they are going to have a team meeting to decide which of the two donors would be the best for him and determine if he is going to have chemo before the transplant chemo regime.
Prior to going to our appointment we had a wonderful lunch and visit with Mary Jane and Bob, Steve's aunt and uncle who live near Chicago. Thanks again the squash soup was delicious!!!
