Thursday~Day+30 Rejoicing in The Day the Lord Has Made

You may have noticed a trend happening here...like running out of things to say?  That must be a good sign that Steve is feeling better each day and I haven't much to tell.  Today is the 30th day from his transplant and marks a significant part of the healing process.  He should be past the critical aspect of the chemo effects and turning the corner on making blood cells.  We thought we would stop labeling the +days on the blog and just let you know when he gets to +100, his next mile marker.  We did have a nice surprise last night though when Anne and Richard (Steve's cousin and husband) stopped over with lots of Italian food.  Good food and great company, thanks alot we really enjoyed the evening and look forward to seeing more of all of you in January.

Christmas is getting closer by the day and has Steve and I discussing ways to sneak home without running into a cold or flu bug.  I am calling it a mental health outing, a Christmas present for both of us.  I have been thinking lately about a conversation I had years ago with a gentleman in a store regarding, of all things, rugs.  He casually mentioned something I have never forgotten and that actually changed the way in which I lived my life forever.  He said, "God gave us Holidays (aka: Holydays) to guide our lives around".  Wow, for me that was a huge twist on how I viewed seasonal events and somehow instantly I had a peace.  Until then I threw the hustle and bustle of a Holiday into an already packed lifestyle seeing it as something that just had to get done so that things could get back to normal. Instead now evolving with me was the notion that rather than to shove in extra activities I wanted to weave plans and celebrations around the Holyness of the day.  Well that was years ago and although I am not making many plans these days I am looking forward to a few time honored traditions our family has adopted over the years like watching the grandkids blow out the candles on Jesus' birthday cake and Steve reading the Christmas story out of the Bible just before everyone exchanges gifts that they have brought to the Creche.  Oh and I can't forget to mark the grandkids height on the wall...we do that each December too.  Yeah, we have to get back if only for a day or two...have a little weaving to do.
Merry Christmas everyone!
