Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. 1 Peter 1:13
Last weekend when this unfolded I asked Steve at one point what he thought about all this and he calmy replied, "Well, it's sobering". So of course when I read this verse this morning I felt the undergirding of God's grace.
I came home for a bit to recharge but left Steve in good hands with the Posse and all I kept hearing was that he was having a good day, played his harmonica, visited with his sister, friends, and old buddies. When I spoke to him tonight he said he was done with the "push", a cool-aid looking substance that is put directly in his central line, and one of the drip bags. He now just has the one chemo drip bag. The doctor has said every day that his counts are coming down nice and slow, that is what we want.
"Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?" Job 2:10
Thank you all for your love, concern, and well wishes for our family. Some of the nurses have said as they come and go that he has a really good support system...you are all a part of that if not in body certainly in spirit. Steve read the blog today and all the comments, he was encouraged.
Havin' a cup of lavender coffee now Stevie... this cups for you.

HI Steve & good morning to you. Sounds like your treatments are doing what they should. I admit I don't understand the technicalities but we both know the Great Physician. Plus, we know the Body of Christ who prays and encourages us all through His Spirit. 1Cor. 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
ReplyDeleteSo we are the part that is praying for you....Love & Blessings P & K
Hey guys- My mother-in-law, Carolyn, told me Steve was in the hospital. It is very sobering, but a sober that brings us closer to His feet. I am glad that in all of the "activities" that our Savior is there, keeping His watch.
ReplyDeleteI will never forget my one and only year of Baseball. Steve was LITERALLY the best coach ever. I remember you (Steve) praying before every game, not to win, but to be good sports, to have fun and being thankful that we were there. I think I was 7-ish? I don't remember much when I was that young, but you made such a huge impact for His Kingdom. God is faithful to those who are Faithful to Him.
Deven and I are praying for you, and look forward to hearing how mightily God is working on your behalf. What a great witness!
We love you and your family... <3

Hi Steve & Dawn,
ReplyDeleteFinally figured out how to leave a comment! This blog thing is new to me. Duh! Just wanted you both to know Tom and I have you in our thoughts and prayers. I know we aren't suppose to question but I always wonder what is God's plan when bad things happen to such good people but I know your strength, sense of humor, and faith will see you through this big challenge.
Anything I can do PLEASE let me know. Kim P.
Dawn and Steve,
ReplyDeleteMy but they don't mess around at this hospital, sounds like they're on top of this treatment program and SOO glad things are going well, and that your being bathed in prayer and surrounding yourself with friends and other good things like lavander and the harmonica! Take care, do what they tell you, unless God says otherwise, and continue to keep us all posted, debbie and steve.
