Steve has told me many times over the years that we have to be patient and wait for the Lord. The example in the Old Testament of what not to do that he always gives is when King Saul is waiting for Samuel (a Prophet of God) to come over the hill and offer the sacrifices for the people. I guess the King got anxious (I envision him "freaking out"...so to speak) and instead of waiting until Samuel got there he began fearfully listening to discontented people, took matters into his own hands, and disobediently offered the sacrifices himself (evidently only God's chosen prophets and priests were allowed to make holy sacrifices). Wouldn't you know it...right after he made the sacrifices Samuel came over the hill and at that point King Saul lost the blessing of God. The book of James tells us "to let patience have it's perfect work" in us and when it is finished "we will be complete lacking nothing". The day Steve entered his hospital room for the first time he said, "well I guess I will just have to be patient". That was even one of his goals written on the white board in his room. Wow, why so long winded here Dawn...well I said all that...to say this...since I'm not in the room with Steve right now I envision him, not like King Saul in fear and panick but rather patiently waiting for the Lord to come over the hill and bless him. Not listening to whispers of discontenment or shouts of fear but hearing that still small voice like a faithful servant knowing that his High Priest is on His way. Night Dear

I know that things will work out for the best! We miss you at church, but I know that you are with us in spirit. Dawn, we are just a phone call away if you need anything.

Marsha Kiersey
Mary Jane B. has shared your blog with me. We were neighbors for years and years. We are going through similar, yet a different journey from you.
ReplyDeleteWoodjourney@blogspot.com give details. Certainly our hope is in the Lord. Psalm 112: 7-8 "He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.
His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end he will look in triumph on his foes."
Lord, Help us to trust and not fear.
What a precious promise:
ReplyDeleteIsaiah 43:1,2 NKJV
I have called you by your name. You are mine.
When you pass through the waters,
I WILL be with you.
Love,hugs, and prayers!
And when the storms of fear and anxiety threaten to surface; when the waiting and wondering weigh you down, listen for Jesus' voice... "Quiet! Be still." (Mk 4:39) He can calm the seas; He can calm our souls.
ReplyDeleteMy prayer today is that you will not be consumed by the winds of the storm, but by the Master of the wind.
You guys are such a blessing!
Love you both!
Romans 8:...24-25 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
ReplyDeleteSteve & Dawn Thinking of you this morning and waiting patiently with you.
