Did anybody hear a drumbroll about 5:15? That's when Steve had chemo bag #7 hung up. That means when it is finished sometime tomorrow he will have had a weeks worth of induction therapy. I was reminded that it is followed by 7 days of monitoring his blood levels to see what transpires, during the next 7 days he won't have any chemo. Then on the 14th day (June 10) we come to a checkpoint...another bone morrow test that will tell where he stands. During the next days ahead they warned that he will experience more side affects. I pray they are minimal and he has energy and vitality. Today he seems weaker than yesterday but still had some nice visits.
To note a bright spot in the week, once a month the business we developed, The Lavender Lane, has a drawing on the first day of the month to determine who wins a product through the referral program. So I brought in the referral basket full of names in it for Steve to draw a winner and have a couple of witnesses (the nurses) to verify the winner. It seemed normal and fun.
The white blood count (wbc) we are watching is now 1.3...looking for a "0".

ReplyDeleteIn the morning,O Lord, you hear my voice;
ReplyDeleteIn the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait in expectation. Ps 3:5
As the last bag of chemo infuses, we wait with eager anticipation and hope that the Lord will restore your body with healthy new blood cells.
I'm believing God !!!
Prayers for rest and restoration,
Cheri and Carl
It's Ann (Fox) Fraze. You all have been on my mind constantly. This journey that you are on is certainly consuming, but already I am amazed by your strength. Paula has been keeping me informed, but now she has shared this site with me so I am thankful for that. As you might know, we live on the north edge of Fort Wayne, so if anyone needs a place to rest/spend the night, please come here. Love, Ann
ReplyDeleteDear Dawn and Steve,
ReplyDeleteHE tells us in His Word:
"Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart, and
you WILL find rest for your souls. For my
yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Matt.11:29,30 NIV
What examples you are to all of the grace and peace that comes as you are "rolling over" your burden upon the Lord!
Love and prayers for you this day....the last day of the "bag"....
Let us keep our eyes on HIM!

So glad to see you have a positive attitude. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. I am a fellow master gardener. Love your lavender.
ReplyDeleteHi Dawn and hey cuz,
ReplyDeleteThis is your pesky cousin Joe. My mom let us all know the news and I have been thinking about you guys a lot.
Not sure what I can do for you but I would be happy to do anything. Just ask even if it comes to needing some bone marrow.
I loved seeing you two at Anne's wedding and wish we had a lot more time to chat and dance. If you haven't seen the pictures and want to let me know and we will send a link via the web. There are a lot and many are very beautiful and some are a quite a hoot.
Steve, Grampa gave us a great head of hair so if the chemo knocks it off don't worry it will all grow back and probably a lot thicker. I buzzed off all my hair right after the wedding and its already growing longer than I'd like.
Also Steve, just because we are "Short" doesn't mean were small. :)
Keeping you all in our thoughts, wishing you strength, courage and perseverance.
Your pesky cousin Joe and his family. Love ya, Peace.
