Steve's chemo just ended, what a relief. Now he will work through the after affects for a few days which may include some fever, nausea, and no appetite but I'm hoping it won't affect him to bad that way. He has had alot of joint and muscle pain so last night they gave him a shot to help him sleep. After his counts recover they will harvest his own stem cells and freeze them for future use...then we get to go home for awhile!
Dr. Larson came in last night after he and the pathologist looked over the bone marrow slides again. He diagnosed Primary Myelofibrosis (with a Jak 2 gene mutation) which probably began sometime back and then turned into Acute Myelogenous Leukemia in May. That is what was suspected but now they are certain and are looking for a donor for the stem cell transplant. So we are praying for the right match (one made in heaven). If they can't find the type of match they are looking for my sense is that they will do an autologous (his own cells) transplant instead.
I can't say thank you enough for your prayers, support, and encouragement. It means the world to us. Steve and I were very happy to see Steph and Logan this afternoon, they drove over to Chicago and spent the afternoon with us. So nice to see them!
