Friday~The Culprit

Another test was done Wednesday and I think they found the culprit that was working on Steve this past weekend...he developed an intestinal infection. We were told that several days after the administration of the type of chemotherpy he had the blood cells begin to break down and die, when they do it releases bacteria into the bloodstream which settles in the intestinal track. Treatment with antibiotics follows and as a result can sometimes cause an intestinal infection which it did in Steve's case. They are treating it now and trying to bring back the flora balance within his intestinal track. His counts aren't recovering yet because of this infection, what little infection fighting white cells he has are quickly used up fighting off the infection. The treatment seems to be helping him feel better though. I thank the Lord they found and are treating it, hopefully it won't get worse, these type of infections I have learned can lead to serious complications and we don't need anymore of that...for sure. Sooooo....I think all this means he will be in the hospital at Parkview until next week. Steve told me they want to see a positive trend with his blood counts before they feel comfortable to release him...good plan.

With that in mind I came home Thursday to regroup, pay bills, and take Lavender Lane to the Kendallville Farmers Market Saturday morning. It is time for some lavender therapy...thank heaven I know where to get it. Lord willing Lavender Lane will also be at Ligonier's Stone's Trace next weekend September 10 & 11 to be on hand to talk about lavender in the demonstration building. If your in the area drop by....lavender and hugs go great together!

With lots of lavender hugs going your way,
Dawn

  1. Hi!

We have been following the blog. Glad to hear that things are looking up for you now that they have found the problem. I know, it will be nice to be at home, but you have to do what the docs say. :)

We definitely miss you two at church and know that you will be back with us soon.

We may run into you sometime while you are down there. Rick's mom was admitted this afternoon. She has phemonia, an infection and some kidney problems. They just moved her into ICU as her blood pressure is dropping. Not sure of the prognosis. WIll let you know when we can.

On a good note, prayers were answered today. I have a job at Messenger's in Auburn if I pass the drug screne and the office is good. :) At this point, anything is better than unemployment! :) Nate is doing well at school so far. Keep praying that it continues.

Love you two and miss you!
    Marsha
