The process has begun...laundry, cleaning, gathering, packing, usually in that order too. We are preparing for our departure on Monday, I'm so grateful to the kids and our friends for taking turns staying here and watching over things for us. I (Dawn) will be back from time to time regrouping and reconnecting with you all. I suppose we will start the offical count down next Tuesday when Steve is admitted to the hospital but I'm starting the unofficial one right now. The medical community considers the day of transplant DAY 0 and the days leading up to that -DAYS. So if November 23 is DAY 0 (transplant day) then today is DAY -10. I'm not normally such a counter, I'm more of an approximate/round-off kinda gal, but it has been necessary throughout Steve's recovery to sharpen up the pencil. He is starting to feel the effects of the chemo he had last week in terms of his energy level and stomach, not to bad but more of a gradual thing. He has done really well with this round of chemo, this one didn't effect his taste at all so he didn't lose his appetite and is still gaining weight! He is going into the transplant in good condition, hopefully he will feel well on our way to Chicago and can do the driving. We have our room booked at MJ&B's (Steve's aunt and uncle) next week and are having our family Thanksgiving Dinner tomorrow. The love and support we have received far outweighs the suffering experienced and I would say we are pretty blessed indeed.
One last thank you to our family, friends, neighbors, church family, and those great Parkview Doctors, Nurses, and staff who took such good care of Steve and me too. You know we will keep you informed right here so keep tuning in for the rest of the story...good day :)
Love, Dawn & Steve

We are glad to here that all is going well and you will be in Chicago soon. Al is on Day+18 and he is doing well. We will be heading downtown for a doctors appointment tomorrow so we will know more then.
ReplyDeleteWe were very impressed with the care at the hospital and I know you will too. I left the hospital every day knowing Al was well cared for.
We will be anxious to hear how things are going. You are in our prayers.

Dawn and Steve,
ReplyDeleteWe hope this was a wonderful Thanksgiving Celebration with your sweet family! You were so missed at Fellowship Bible but we had a season of prayer for you. We are confident that HE who goes before you will perfect all that concerns you.
We love you and will be much at prayer for each day's needs.
Hugs!
